ICAR-IISS winter school participants gain practical insights into regenerative agriculture at Nico Roozen Centre

Around 25 Assistant Professors and agricultural professionals from across India, attending an ICAR-sponsored winter school on conservation agriculture at ICAR-IISS, visited the Nico Roozen International Centre of Excellence for Regenerative Agriculture in Sehore Madhya Pradesh. The visit aimed to provide practical insights into regenerative agriculture. Solidaridad experts introduced the organization, its programs, and the centre’s mission.

An interactive session followed, where participants discussed regenerative agriculture’s distinctions from conservation, sustainable, and integrated farming. Experts elaborated on its role in carbon sequestration and GHG reduction.

The participants then explored the centre’s facilities, including bio-input and vermicompost units, a biodigester, solar pumps, crop demonstration plots, a hydroponic fodder system, and more. They provided feedback, suggesting the inclusion of mushroom cultivation, poultry, and fisheries.

This visit offered valuable exposure to regenerative agriculture’s practical applications, deepening participants’ understanding of its impact on soil health and climate resilience.
