International Women’s Day 2025
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, ICAR-IISS and Solidaridad jointly organized an impactful event with 85+ women farmers at the Nico Roozen International Centre of Excellence for Regenerative Agriculture, located at village Badkheda Kharet, Sehore (M.P).
Themed "Principles and Benefits of Regenerative Agriculture," the event aimed at empowering women farmers with essential knowledge and hands-on insights into regenerative agriculture practices and importance of nutrition garden ensuring good health of their family. Topics covered included vermi-composting, crop diversification, cover cropping, crop rotation, use of crop residue, minimum tillage, and the harmful impacts of slash burning.
The event witnessed active participation from 30 scientific administrative team of ICAR-IISS, who celebrate women farmers contributions to agriculture and rural development.
The program also featured insightful sessions led by scientists from ICAR-IISS and experts from Solidaridad, covering:
• Solidaridad's ongoing programs on regenerative agriculture
• Innovative practices implemented at the Nico Centre
• Introduction to the 20-20 Mehta Model for diversified and inclusive farming
Women farmers narrated real-life success stories, showcasing how regenerative farming has enhanced their livelihoods and farm resilience.
Participants took a close look at on-ground demonstrations and activities designed to promote regenerative agriculture in the region.
Solidaridad and ICAR-IISS, continue to collaborate on initiatives that build capacities of women farmers, promote sustainable agriculture practices, and develop inclusive rural development.
