Empowering women farmers through Regenerative Agriculture

As part of its collaboration with ICAR-IISS, Solidaridad organized an experience tour and training program at Indian Institute of Soil Science (IISS) for 25 women farmers identified from 10 villages nearby the Nico Roozen International Center of Excellence in Regenerative Agriculture. This initiative provided hands-on learning opportunities in regenerative agriculture and soil health, marking a significant step in empowering women farmers. This initiative reinforces Solidaridad commitment to sustainable farming, soil health, and women’s empowerment in agriculture.

Training Highlights:

- Dr. Sangeeta Lenka (Principal Scientist, IISS) demonstrated vermicomposting techniques, including bag filling, earthworm introduction, and composting precautions.

- Dr. Bharat Meena (Senior Scientist, IISS) provided insights on composting agricultural weeds & stubble management.

- Dr. R.K. Singh (Senior Scientist, IISS) guided a field tour on wheat & gram demo plots, explaining flow, drip, and sprinkler irrigation methods.

To support their journey, vermicompost bags were distributed free of cost, encouraging women to apply and share their knowledge within their communities.
